Sierra Guitars is sponsoring the National Guitar Workshop for the second year in a row by donating two Sierra guitars! Aspiring intermediate and advanced guitar students attending one of the Acoustic Seminars in Purchase, NY will have a chance to win either a Sierra Compass Travel-Size Guitar or a Sierra Alpine Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar in Black.
The Sierra Compass Travel-Size Guitar will be given to a lucky winner at the Acoustic Roots Seminar with Seth Austen, which takes place July 26-31, 2009. Students will learn acoustic guitar styles such as Delta blues, bluegrass, folk, and old time country are at the root of many modern acoustic and electric guitar styles. They will explore various acoustic roots styles including fingerpicked piedmont blues and ragtime, open tuned Delta slide guitar, Carter-style thumb lead, bluegrass flatpicking, early swing styles, and more. Participants will learn to play songs from the repertoire of influential traditional artists such as Robert Johnson, Mother Maybelle Carter, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Leadbelly, and Johnny Cash.
The Sierra Alpine Dreadnought Acoustic-Electric Guitar in Black will be given to a lucky winner at the Acoustic and Beyond Seminar with Mark Yodice, which takes place August 9-14, 2009. Students will explore an extensive range of diverse acoustic guitar styles and study artists ranging from The Beatles to Al DiMeola, and Michael Hedges. They will discover advanced fingerstyle patterns, percussive techniques, left and right hand control, strength and coordination, arranging music for solo guitar, alternate tunings, exploring the instruments polyphonic potential, and much more.
